Ndamukong Suh has won the Rotary Lombardi Award as the top lineman of the country. He has also won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and is one of the nominees for the Heisman Trophy as well. The other two finalists were Terrence Cody of Alabama and Gerald McCoy. Ndamukong Suh has finished his season with a high number of tackles. He is the defensive tackle for Nebraska Cornhuskers. He has been named for Walter Camp Award and has been named in the finalist’s list for Outland Trophy as well. With his brilliant performance in this season’s games, Suh has been declared the winner of the Bill Willis Trophy and CBS Sportsline’s Defense Player of the Year.

Rotary Lombardi is one of the nation’s prestigious football awards and was approved by the Rotary Club in 1970. The award was designed and approved shortly after the death of Vince Lombardi, a well-known American football coach. The Lombardi trophy is made up of a block of granite. The design is made to pay a tribute to Lombardi who was an offensive lineman in his college days. His line was often called ‘7 Blocks of Granite’.

The voting committee of the Lombardi award comprises of head coaches from all schools, former winners of Rotary Lombardi Award, and the sports journalists from all the media. The total number of current voters is 500. The most number of Lombardi Awards has been own by Ohio state. The Rotary Lombardi Award is separate from Vince Lombardi Trophy. Vince Lombardi Trophy is given to the winner of NFL super Bowl.
