KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari Monday said that it was the collective responsibility of all political forces to bring back normalcy in Karachi. “Please come together.
We got to come together as a nation and stand up to the challenge of our times. Other nations had stood up to the challenges of their times whether the World War or calamities”, the President said while speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Mohatta Palace Museum Cultural Complex.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, members of Sindh Cabinet and Hameed Haroon were also present on the occasion.
“If some thing is going wrong in our city (Karachi), if somebody is burning it, it is everybody’s responsibility to check it and stop it. I will ask all my friends, my neighbours, people I see here who grew up here to feel your responsibility”, he added.
President Zardari said that PPP has introduced the concept of reconciliation all around Pakistan to forge a sense of togetherness in the nation. “Where we needed them politically or not, we went for reconciliation because we had realized the challenges to this nation, to our existence and our coming generation were very great and therefore we came together.”
Recalling his young age memories in Karachi, Asif Zardari said this city was peaceful. “I remember the times (as a young boy) that the gates of our homes would never be closed. As young we would not need so many bullet proof vehicles in this city.”
