SC summons Karachi administrator

KARACHI: The Supreme Court has summoned Karachi administrator Lala Fazlur Rehman in a petition filed against establishment of oil tankers’ stand and workshops at Sheeren Jinnah Colony.

The three-member bench headed by Chef Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry.

The applicant argued that the residents, who were living around Main Clifton Block-1 road, were suffering heavily due to the presence of oil tankers everywhere in the area.

Earlier, the court sought a report from the IG Traffic, who told that the area was under administrative control of the Cantonment Board. But the Cantonment Board denied it had any control over the said area. It said that Karachi city government was controlling the area.

However, the city government has so far failed to give any satisfactory reply in its report.
