WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani shook hands with Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh at a reception hosted by the US President Barack Obama, reports said.

The leaders of Pakistan and India have met at a nuclear security summit in Washington.Yousuf Raza Gilani spoke to Manmohan Singh during a reception.

A Pakistani embassy spokesman said it was “not a formal meeting”.

“Both leaders were present at the same place and so they shook hands and talked,” he said.

A spokesman for India’s foreign ministry, Vishnu Prakash, told an Indian newspaper that the two leaders “exchanged pleasantries”.
